Saidpur Village

Saidpur Village is situated on the slopes of Margalla Hills in Islamabad and is one of the oldest villages of Pakistan. Saidpur village is as old as five hundred years and is known for its heritage, history and folklore, which is nowadays a famous visiting place for the visitors both national and international.

It is so much old village that it was named Saidpur after Sultan Said Khan son of Sultan Sarang Khan. Sultan Sarang Khan was the Lord of Pothohar region (from Jhelum to Attock) during the times of Mughal Emperor Babur. After that Saidpur village was gifted by Said khan to his daughter who was married to Mughal emperor Jahangir son of Mughal emperor Akbar. This is the brief history of Saidpur village which has now become a touris place. The conversion of Saidpur into a multicultural and historical tourist attraction was started by Capital Development Authority in 2006 under the supervision of Chairman CDA Mr. Kamran Lashari. In the year 2008 it was presented officially beautiful quaint village with the technical assistance of France government of worth Rs. 400 million.

There were changes made in the village for its presentation which include the re-doing of a temple, the stream running cleaning throughout the village and face-lifting of mud houses. The village reflects the traditional ambience; the temple, the stones used on the walls, the stacks of hay, the horse-drawn carts and everything else depicts the history of Pothohar region.

After remodeling of this village many restaurants, art galleries and antiques showrooms have also been built here. Des Pardes, The Polo Lounge, Café 99 and Tirah restaurant are few of the famous restaurants in Saidpur village. A small museum which is decorated with pictures and other stuff related to this village can also be seen here. Hindu temples and Gurdwara provides information about Hindu and Sikh culture which can also be visited here.

Faisal Mosque

Faisal Mosque’s Beauty & History

Faisal mosque is the most beautiful mosque in Islamabad which was built in 1976 and the grant was offered by the Saudi King Shah Faisal after which it is named. It is made under the beautiful design of Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay. It bears the shape of desert Bedouin’s tent. It is National Mosque of Pakistan which is symbol of hope and aspiration of the nation.

It is present on such a great location in the base of Margalla Hills and it captures the attention of its visitors from far across a long distance because of its beautiful structural outlook and its minarets. It is one of Asia’s largest mosques. It keeps its visitors attracted towards its beauty because of its design which is blend of ultramodern and traditional architectural design.

Mosque welcomes its visitors a small courtyard with a small round water pond with fountains and plaque inside it. On the left hand one can see stairs leading to main courtyard of mosque and the straight takes its visitors to a relatively larger water pond with fountains. On left to this pond is ablution place for worshipers. This second water pond looks very stunning. Stairs goes to main courtyard from all four corners of this pond.

One has to maintain the manners of the mosque while he enters the mosque because it’s a sacred place where Muslims go for worship and prayers. The courtyard presents a prestigious view of the margalla hills to the visitors. On one side of the courtyard there is mausoleum of a former president Gen. Zia-ul-Haq of Pakistan.

There are so many places in Islamabad to visit but this is fabulous place to visit, and for anyone who visits Islamabad for the first time this place is best for him to visit.
